Around 10 months before, one of the leading platforms online shopping, Flipkart had added a social element in their app to attract more users and keep them using their app. The social element was a peer-to-peer in-app chat service called Ping. The social element Ping had allowed users to look for products and share them with other users inside Flipkart's app.
Now Flipkart has decided to stop the element and replace it with a new chat service. The new chat service will allow the users to chat with the sellers and the customer care.
The firm also has decided to stop the image search option which enabled the users to look for similar products with the image they have uploaded on the site.
Flipkart authorities believe that such a change will make the online shopping easier and convenient for the customers. People can contact to the seller directly and ask their questions related to the product before buying the product. They can also contact to the customer care service regarding the issue of refund or returns. They have already started trying out their new version of chat from last April.
Their competitor Snapdeal had also launched a similar chat service with their new model to enable the sellers to connect with buyers.
